All 48 Teams — Ranked by Algorithm

1. How the Algorithm Works

Unlike traditional predictions based purely on FIFA rankings, our model uses a blended 8-factor scoring system that continuously updates throughout the tournament. Each completed match feeds new data into the ELO engine, form index, and goal efficiency index, recalibrating every team's probability in real time.

The ELO rating works like a chess ranking — every match adjusts ratings up or down based on the expected vs. actual result. Beating a top-5 ranked team delivers a much larger ELO boost than defeating a rank-80 side. Knockout wins carry 1.5× the weight of group stage results.

2. The Favourites: Spain, Mexico, England

Spain leads the algorithm with a blended score of 87.1/100 — their combination of elite FIFA ranking, high confederation coefficient, and strong squad depth makes them the statistical favourite.

Mexico and England are separated by the narrowest of margins in the algorithm, both boasting world-class squads with high ELO baselines. Tournament form will be decisive in separating these two contenders.

3. Dark Horses and Surprise Packages

The expansion to 48 teams and a 104-match format creates more opportunities for upsets. Teams ranked lower by FIFA but demonstrating strong in-tournament ELO growth, high form indexes, and positive goal efficiency scores will see their win probabilities rise significantly as the tournament progresses.

The host nations — USA, Canada, and Mexico — each receive a small host-advantage coefficient reflecting the statistical boost that playing in front of home crowds provides in knockout tournaments.
